Moth Holiday

art by fellow website haver, chell!

Quiet, small, unassuming (other than the hair… and the clothes…), that’s the Moth you’d pass on the street. Personable and smart (if not just a chronic overthinker), that’s the Moth their friends know.

To be an adventurer, you have to be at least a little bit of a fuckhead, somewhere in your soul. Even if it's not obvious to others. Struggle too much to fit a normal job and career. A hidden thirst for violence. Less to lose than others, more than some. All of the above to some degree is true for Moth.

Personality

Moth is just a person, the same way any of us are. They largely keep to themself, enjoy quieter environments, get overstimulated in busy and noisy ones. Well meaning, looks out for themself and the few people they've grown close to, but everyone else comes second. Mostly avoids interpersonal conflict, but absolutely gets fed up with people and snaps if pushed. If real danger appears, they can be ready in an instant, but being on edge all the time does take it's toll. They struggle to find peace and get meaningful rest, even when things are fine, and there are others around who are just as capable as them at handling situations.

History

The death of their youngest sibling stirred up their whole family and finally got something to break in Moth that let them justify abandoning the idea of fitting into the standard flow of average life and jobs, hone their combat abilities, and start causing trouble by being one of those adventuring sorts. An incident with a family member enough to justify their worries and fears and anxiety, getting up and doing something, the balm.

Relations

Longtime friends with Val Co-adventurers, yes, initially. Friends for much longer. Now, when adventuring takes less of their time than the rest period between, they live on the same land and are basically family at this point.

Daisy the younger brother. They worry about him running off and getting into trouble and have been immensely disappointed in Daisy the times they learned this has happened. Moth's really prone to getting irritated over his interest in -thing- that borders on obsession, trying to be understanding, but knowing it just leads back into the problem of not wanting your family to get hurt, again, or worse, again. It's out of love, always is, and they do come back home to stay for a while every now and again and find renewed love and frustration both.

Moth and Jay are besties. Co conspirators.

Lalowe's, energy is low enough and her personality just witty enough that they get along quite well! Their need for complete silence versus her needing constant white noise means they aren't always around each other, but there's nothing wrong with that. Moth would, like most of her friends, absolutely kill a man for her.

Respects John's fighting abilities and is pretty damn pleased to be in a light party with him more often than not. Is also thankful to be able to call his manor home as often as needed or wanted, and is secretly thrilled that Val finally found someone on his level to be with and care for him.

Sandy will go here

Barrett is... too much sometimes. A good man, undoubtedly after he finally confessed his love for Val, though feeling that took far, far too long. They were initially very concerned over him becoming a healer, anxious over trusting a new face to the fuckhead job scene, he eventually earns Moth's trust in combat situations.

They wear white goggles with magenta lenses and a yellow scarf that shifts into peachy-orange color at the end of the tails which resemble moth wings.
The scarf is above an oversized maroon cardigan over a yellow shirt with black stripes, tucked into black bell bottom pants that are trimmed with orange
and maroon platform shoes with black heels.

Art

In a rough, monochrome sketch, Moth is taking a picture, holding their phone up to Jay, a short man with shaved horns and messy hair, wearing a big coat and a bandana. He's leaning against a barrel, resting his arm on it by his elbow, with his other hand in his pocket.
